Following the successful launch of Aurelius Hospital Alor Setar (AHAS), Aurelius Healthcare today marks another significant milestone with the official launch of Aurelius Hospital Pahang (AHP). The launch ceremony was officiated by the Official Representative of Kebawah Duli Paduka Mulia Tengku Mahkota Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Panglima Raja Brigedier Jeneral Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Located in the heart of Kuantan, AHP has been operating with a full range of multidisciplinary services and is now being formally launched as part of Aurelius Healthcare’s national rollout strategy. With an initial US$8.4 million (RM36 million) invested into AHP, an additional US$24.4 million (RM100 million) will be dedicated to the development of a new tertiary care facility at the launch site. Through the new investment, the currently 57-bed hospital will undergo a transformation into a 12-storey tertiary care facility with 150 beds and 40 specialist clinics, ensuring broader access to quality care. Its advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities include a 1.5 Tesla MRI, 64-slice CT scan, single-plane Angiogram, digital mammogram, and a full suite of imaging and endoscopy services.

AHP is developing Centres of Excellence in Oncology, Minimally Invasive Surgery, Orthopaedics, and Women and Children’s Health, and is currently supported by 29 consultants (resident and sessional) across 16 specialities. In line with growing patient needs, the hospital has also introduced new clinical services in dermatology and neurosciences, encompassing both neurology and neurosurgery. It prides itself on having an orthopaedic surgeon highly experienced in minimally invasive spine surgery and is the only hospital in the state of Pahang with a glaucoma sub-specialist, reducing the need for patients to travel for specialised eye care.

The hospital is also among the first in Kuantan to offer comprehensive oncology services. A notable development is the upcoming installation of a linear accelerator for radiotherapy, a major step toward expanding cancer care services in the East Coast. Once operational, AHP plans to extend these services in partnership with the public sector to help meet rising demand across the state.

To date, the hospital has performed close to 1000 new surgeries, conducted multiple oncology consultations and treatments, a significant step forward in expanding access to life-saving care within the state. AHP is also proud to have safely delivered over 2,000 babies, giving many young Pahangites the best start in life.

In response to the challenges faced by dialysis patients in the region, AHP has recently begun offering arteriovenous fistula (AVF) procedures, a vital service that previously led many patients to travel as far as Johor. With promising early success rates, AHP aims to publish clinical outcomes as part of its commitment to transparency and clinical excellence.

Aurelius Hospital Pahang also incorporates quality indicators into its key performance indicators (KPIs), including measurable elements that reflect the hospital’s commitment to safety and healthcare excellence. These details will be made known to the public. Preparations are underway to have the hospital accredited by Malaysian standards, after which international standards would then be pursued.

As part of its commitment to holistic service excellence, AHP has introduced Signature Suites, setting a new standard for VIP inpatient care in Pahang. These exclusive suites combine premium comfort with enhanced privacy, personalised nursing care, and dedicated services including bedside discharge and patient ambassadors.

As part of its community integration, AHP also houses well-loved outlets including O’Brien’s Cafe, Mas Awana, and Aurelius MedCare, supporting convenience and lifestyle needs within the hospital environment.

“Our goal has always been clear; to bring Malaysians world-class healthcare. All hospitals are built on
the same guiding principles: excellence in care, investment in technology, and meaningful community
engagement. More than a ceremonial moment, the launch of AHP represents a key chapter in Aurelius Healthcare’s
vision to build an accessible, connected, patient-centric and high-quality healthcare ecosystem that
serves diverse communities across every corner of the country,” said Dato’ Amir Firdaus Abdullah,
Founder and Group Managing Director of Aurelius Healthcare.

Forward-looking Vision for A Robust Healthcare Ecosystem Across Malaysia

AHP is part of Aurelius Healthcare’s broader strategy to establish a connected network of private hospitals across the Northern, Central and Eastern regions of Peninsular Malaysia. Each hospital is designed not only to fill healthcare gaps and reduce reliance on urban hospitals but also to stimulate local economic development, cultivate medical talent, create jobs, and uplift underserved communities.

The group is supported by Navis Capital Partners, a leading private equity firm whose continued investment demonstrates confidence in Malaysia’s healthcare sector. Since 2019, Navis has invested an estimated US$80 million (RM335 million) into Aurelius Healthcare to accelerate the group’s expansion.

“AHP is more than just a hospital, it represents a strategic leap forward in expanding modern private
healthcare to Malaysia’s East Coast. The hospital in Kuantan complements our wider holistic
healthcare network, not just in reach, but in ensuring continuity and consistency of care across the
region. With three hospitals under our belt, Aurelius Healthcare is setting the foundation for a robust
and resilient private healthcare network across the nation,” said Dato’ Sri Nicholas Bloy, Co-Founder
and Managing Partner of Navis Capital Partners.

With the upcoming launch of Aurelius Hospital Negeri Sembilan (AHNS) later this year, the group’s three hospitals are strategically positioned to meet rising demand across the northern, east coast, and central regions. The recent Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation awarded to Aurelius Hospital Negeri Sembilan (AHNS), the gold standard in patient safety and clinical excellence, further affirms Aurelius Healthcare’s unwavering commitment to world-class healthcare.

“This milestone, achieved in under four years since AHNS’s establishment, sets the tone for Aurelius
Healthcare’s ambitions to uphold the same standards across our network, including the newly
launched AHP in Pahang and AHAS in Kedah. As the group continues to grow, our focus remains clear. We are committed to empowering local communities, modernising healthcare delivery, and contributing meaningfully to Malaysia’s
healthcare development,” concluded Dr Terence Leslie De Silva, Group Medical Director (Malaysia),
Aurelius Healthcare.
